Neutrino oscillations have attracted considerable interest both experimentally and theoretically, and have been the subject of vigorous research for many years. One theoretically sound derivation of neutrino oscillations (in vacuum) is to describe them as wave-packet transitions. However, conventional derivations have relied on several presumptions, such as the use of asymptotic forms of the wave-packet profile. In this talk, we will discuss how a generalised formula can be derived to describe a wider range of situations, in which certain presumptions are relaxed, specifically focusing on the Gaussian wave packet state. |
